"...Last week this cow managed to step on her teat, which bled profusely for quite a bit of time. Upon consultation with a vet it was determined that stitches would not be a great option as it was likely she would simply step on the teat again and tear it further.
The vet advised finding some way to tape the teat up out of the way as best I could. I figured the Equi-Tape I had in by car was worth a shot to try. So after cleaning the udder with water and Hibitane scrub (and allowing it to dry) I configured a sling type application to try and keep it out of the way. I have also been spraying EQure 's new Revive product on the teat every other day to help with healing and mitigating possible infection. I then applied some gauze and some vet wrap to the teat itself for added protection before applying the taping configuration.
So far the results have been great and these two items are definitely must haves in any emergency animal first aid kit!"
